We collect information you provide directly when using the platform, including:

- Information about the deceased
- Estate details
- Co-executor details where applicable
- Payment information processed by Stripe (we do not store card details)
- Identity verification data processed during the verification step
We also collect technical data automatically, including IP addresses, browser type, device information and usage data through our hosting and monitoring infrastructure.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide the Afterly service, including:
- Creating and managing your estate file
- Responding to support enquiries
- Monitoring platform performance and resolving errors
We do not use your information for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We do not sell your information to third parties.
4. Third Party Service Providers
To deliver our service, we share data with the following processors. Each is contractually bound to use your data only for the purpose of delivering services to Afterly:
Some providers are located outside Australia. Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for the following periods:
- Active estates retained for the duration of your engagement with the platform
- Completed estates retained for 7 years following completion, consistent with Australian record-keeping requirements
- Deleted estates purged immediately upon administrator deletion, including all associated documents
- Authentication data deleted when the associated estate is purged
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting contact us. Note that deletion may affect our ability to provide ongoing services.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Row-level security enforced at the database level
- Time-limited, signed URLs for document access
- Multi-factor authentication for administrative access
- Regular security scanning and dependency monitoring
In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
